VinFast VF 8 Enters Its Second Generation With a Full Redesign
VinFast has introduced a new-generation VF 8 with a smaller body, redesigned cabin and a front-wheel-drive electric powertrain.
VinFast has revealed the second-generation VF 8, replacing the electric crossover that first debuted in 2022. Instead of giving the original model a conventional facelift, the Vietnamese automaker has moved straight to what it describes as an all-new generation.
The new VF 8 looks noticeably different from its predecessor. VinFast has adopted a cleaner and more restrained design language, with a large black front panel, slim LED light strips and the brand’s illuminated-style central signature. The sides feature flush door handles and hidden rear pillars, while the rear uses a full-width light bar that mirrors the front lighting theme.
Interestingly, the new VF 8 is smaller than the outgoing model. It measures 4,701 mm long, 1,872 mm wide and has a 2,840 mm wheelbase. That makes it 49 mm shorter, 62 mm narrower and 110 mm shorter between the axles than before. Height has increased only slightly to 1,670 mm, while ground clearance is listed at 170 mm. The crossover rides on 19-inch wheels.

The interior has also been completely reworked. Unlike the previous VF 8, which relied heavily on a head-up display, the new model now has a dedicated digital instrument screen in front of the driver. The central infotainment display has become smaller, dropping from 15.6 inches to 12.9 inches, but it now includes a built-in virtual assistant.
The center console uses a two-level layout with cupholders and a wireless charging pad. The cabin remains a five-seat layout, but the overall dashboard and control arrangement now look more conventional and easier to read than before.
VinFast says the second-generation VF 8 is based on a new platform and uses adaptive suspension. For now, only one powertrain has been announced: a single front-mounted electric motor producing 231 hp. The battery has a capacity of 60.13 kWh, with a claimed range of 500 km on the older NEDC cycle.

The previous VF 8 was also offered with all-wheel drive, so a dual-motor version of the new crossover may appear later. VinFast has not confirmed that yet.
In Vietnam, prices for the new VF 8 start from 999 million dong, or about $38,000. Deliveries are expected to begin in July. Export sales have not been announced, but the previous VF 8 was a global model, so the new generation could eventually reach overseas markets as well.
