Twin Turbos Turn Corvette E-Ray Into a 1,582-Horsepower Monster

Rezvani Motors built its reputation on taking American muscle and wrapping it in radical carbon-fiber bodywork, and its latest project pushes that formula to an extreme. The California tuner has unveiled the Beast X, a hybrid-powered evolution of its already wild Beast lineup, and this time the donor car is the all-wheel-drive Corvette E-Ray rather than the standard Stingray.

The original Beast traces back to 2015, when Rezvani essentially rebodied a British Ariel Atom 3 with help from carbon specialists at N2A. After a detour into building outrageous off-roaders, the company returned to its sports car roots in February 2024 with a second-generation Beast based on the eighth-generation Corvette Stingray, featuring reworked carbon panels and a dramatically boosted engine. The new X variant takes that concept a step further by starting with the E-Ray, Chevrolet's hybrid, all-wheel-drive Corvette.

Visually, the Beast X stands apart from its stablemates thanks to an aggressive aero package: larger intakes, canards mounted on the front bumper, wider side skirt extensions, a beefed-up rear diffuser, and a split fixed wing. Inside, familiar Beast touches carry over, including the truncated steering wheel and leather-trimmed dashboard cowl, but the seats now ride on carbon-fiber shells, and each car receives a numbered plaque confirming its place among a tiny production run.

Mechanically, the transformation is staggering. The E-Ray's naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8 normally sends power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while a front-mounted electric motor - fed by a 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery in the center tunnel - adds up to 162 horsepower and 165 Nm, and can also recharge the pack. Rezvani's engineers bolted on a pair of turbochargers, catapulting combined output from 665 horsepower and 807 Nm to a staggering 1,582 horsepower and 1,735 Nm. That upgrade slashes the 0-60 mph sprint from 2.5 seconds down to just 1.9 seconds, with suspension and chassis components reworked to handle the extra strain.

It's worth noting that Chevrolet itself has been shuffling engines under the Corvette's hood. The standard Stingray recently swapped its LT2 for a naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 producing 542 horsepower, while the E-Ray's hybrid architecture was superseded in March by the Grand Sport X, which pairs the LS6 with an electric motor for 731 combined horsepower. Rezvani appears to have stockpiled a handful of E-Ray units before that transition, and those cars now form the basis of the Beast X.

Scarcity is baked into the plan: Rezvani will build just five examples of the Beast X, each priced from $500,000. That's a substantial jump over the standard turbocharged Beast, which starts at $385,000, underscoring just how exclusive - and extreme - this hybrid hypercar interpretation is meant to be.
