Toyota Marks 60 Years Of Corolla With A Two-Tone Hatchback Instead Of A Redesign
With no new sheetmetal on the horizon, Toyota is celebrating the Corolla's 60th birthday one special trim at a time, and this one arrives in a bold mustard-and-black finish.
Toyota's 60th anniversary celebration for the Corolla keeps rolling on, and this time it's the five-door hatchback's turn in Japan. After the Active Sport sedan and wagon kicked things off and the rugged Corolla Cross Z Adventure followed, the automaker has now unveiled the Corolla Sport G Z Active Elegance, a dressed-up version of the hatch's range-topping trim.
Since the current, twelfth-generation Corolla hasn't seen a major styling overhaul since it launched back in 2018, Toyota is leaning on color and trim tweaks to keep things feeling new. The standout here is a striking Black and Mustard two-tone paint job, a shade combination not typically associated with a car this practical, giving the hatchback some much-needed visual punch. Buyers who prefer something more restrained can still opt for Black and Platinum White Pearl Mica, or a simpler Neutral Black.

Outside, 60th Anniversary badges sit on the front fenders, paired with fresh 18-inch alloy wheels finished in a machined look. Inside the cabin, Toyota has swapped in genuine leather and Brannove suede-style upholstery in Chateau and Black tones, accented with Smoke Silver trim. A 60th anniversary logo is stamped onto the dashboard, while aluminum pedals and sport seats round out the upgrades meant to justify the special edition's price bump.
The anniversary treatment isn't limited to this one-off model, though. The regular G Z flagship trim now also comes standard with the same 18-inch wheels, and its color lineup has been refreshed with Dark Blue Mica and Neutral Black, plus a two-tone Platinum White Pearl Mica or Emotional Red III paired with a black roof., Mechanically, nothing has changed. The Corolla Sport continues with its familiar 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain, good for a combined 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS), sending power to the front wheels through a CVT. So while the anniversary edition looks and feels a bit more special, the driving experience remains exactly as it was before.

The 2026 Toyota Corolla Sport G Z Active Elegance is now open for orders in Japan, priced from ¥3,438,000, or roughly $21,200. That's about $1,300 more than the standard G Z trim, a relatively modest premium for exclusive paint, unique interior touches, and bragging rights tied to six decades of Corolla history.
