Toyota Corolla Marks Its 60th Anniversary With Special Editions in Japan
Toyota celebrates 60 years of the Corolla in Japan with special Active Sport editions, minor equipment updates and more anniversary models to follow.
Toyota is celebrating one of its most important nameplates with new 60th-anniversary editions of the Corolla in Japan. The first models to receive the treatment are the Corolla Active Sport sedan and Corolla Touring Active Sport wagon, both updated on May 12 with commemorative design details and extra equipment.
The anniversary versions are aimed at giving the familiar Corolla a slightly more distinctive and driver-focused character. Both cars receive special 60th-anniversary logos on the front fenders, while the cabin adds a laser-engraved anniversary emblem on the synthetic leather-wrapped instrument panel.
Toyota has also added hardware intended to make the Active Sport models feel sharper on the road. The package includes a tuned suspension for 2WD versions, along with 17-inch black-finished aluminum wheels and matching center caps.

The anniversary rollout will not stop with the sedan and wagon. Toyota says special 60th-anniversary versions of the Corolla Sport hatchback and Corolla Cross SUV will be introduced in Japan from the middle of the year.
Alongside the anniversary editions, Toyota has made minor updates to the regular Corolla and Corolla Touring. The color palette now includes Neutral Black and Emotional Red II, while the entry-level X grade gains Smart Entry and a Navigation-Ready Package as standard equipment.
Toyota has also introduced a new Corolla-based vehicle for Japanese driving schools, extending the model’s role beyond private buyers and reinforcing its long-running position as one of the brand’s most practical everyday cars.
