Suzuki Adds a Turbo Engine to the Brezza And It's Now the Cheapest Way In

Suzuki isn't just Jimny and Vitara in India, the compact Brezza SUV has quietly been one of the brand's steadiest sellers, and it's just received its first major update since the second generation launched four years ago. The refresh brings mild cosmetic tweaks, expanded safety tech, and, most notably, a new turbocharged engine option that undercuts the rest of the lineup on price while topping it on output.

That new mill is a mild-hybrid 1.0-liter Boosterjet three-cylinder, sending 109 hp and 170 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a brand-new six-speed manual gearbox. It slots in above the carryover naturally aspirated 1.5-liter Dual Jet four-cylinder, which makes a more modest 102 hp and 137 Nm and can be paired with either a manual or an automatic. Suzuki also refreshed the CNG-powered Brezza, giving it a redesigned 55-liter underfloor tank and swapping its old five-speed manual for a six-speed unit.

Visually, the changes are subtle enough that you'd need a side-by-side comparison to spot them. A restyled front bumper picks up new side air intakes and extra faux-aluminum trim, while a cleaner grille frames the unchanged headlight units. Suzuki has also added slim metallic accents along the body sides and introduced two new paint options, Vivacious Orange and Lustrous Beige, for the roughly four-meter-long SUV. Buyers wanting to stand out further can choose from three appearance packages: a Turbo Package with red accents and unique badging, a Terrascape Package with brown and silver cladding, or a Metroscape Package with understated bumper garnishes.

Step inside and the biggest news is a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, up from the previous 9-inch unit, alongside a new Dark Brown and Black interior scheme featuring metallic-look trim, gloss black accents, and leatherette seating. Higher trims get considerably more plush, with ventilated front seats, 64-color ambient lighting, a power sunroof, an in-cabin air purifier, and a wireless charging pad with its own cooling function. Suzuki also added an Arkamys-branded sound system for buyers who want better audio without going aftermarket.

Safety equipment has been bolstered too, with the driver-assistance suite now including blind-spot monitoring with lane-change alerts, rear cross-traffic warning, exit support to flag approaching traffic when doors open, and an upgraded 360-degree camera system.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is where the turbocharged model lands in the price structure. Despite being the most powerful Brezza ever offered, the manual turbo variant starts at an introductory 739,900 rupees, or roughly $7,700 making it the cheapest way into the lineup, not the priciest. Suzuki's range-topping naturally aspirated automatic, by contrast, tops out around 1,370,000 rupees ($14,200). For now, the updated Brezza remains an India-only model, developed and built there for a market where value-focused turbo power and generous tech at a low entry price are a winning combination.
