Peugeot E-208 GTi Revives the GTi Badge as a Fully Electric Hot Hatch
Peugeot E-208 GTi brings the iconic GTi badge into the electric era, with the production version set to debut at Le Mans.
Peugeot is bringing the GTi name back, but this time without a combustion engine. The new Peugeot E-208 GTi will become the brand’s first fully electric GTi model, turning one of Peugeot’s most famous performance badges into an EV-era hot hatch.
The production car will be revealed at Le Mans, one year after Peugeot used the same event to show the E-208 GTi concept. That timing is deliberate: the brand is also celebrating 100 years since its first appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Peugeot says the road-going E-208 GTi remains very close to the 2025 concept, which received a strong reaction from fans and customers. The design was created by Peugeot Sport and Peugeot Design in France, with the goal of keeping the traditional GTi character while adding modern electric performance.

The first official image shows a sharper version of the regular E-208, with a more aggressive front bumper, vertical lighting elements, sporty wheels and red GTi details. Peugeot will display three production cars at Le Mans in blue, white and red, highlighting the model’s French identity.
Full technical specifications have not been announced yet. Peugeot says key figures, including performance data, will be revealed during its press conference at Le Mans on June 12.
The E-208 GTi follows the success of the current 208 family and directly connects to the legacy started by the Peugeot 205 GTi four decades ago. That makes the new model more than a simple trim level: it is Peugeot’s attempt to reinterpret the classic hot hatch formula for the electric age.

For Peugeot, the E-208 GTi also fits into a broader EV strategy. The brand already offers one of the widest electric lineups among European mainstream manufacturers, and the new GTi gives that lineup a more emotional performance flagship.
