Lamborghini's Hybrid Urus Performante Adds Muscle But Loses the Sprint Advantage
More power, a plug, and hundreds of extra pounds - Lamborghini's hottest Urus proves that going hybrid comes with tradeoffs, even at 801 hp.
The Urus Performante disappeared from Lamborghini's lineup back in 2024 when the entire SUV range switched to hybrid-only power, leaving fans of the raciest Urus without a home. That gap closes now with the arrival of the Urus SE Performante, a plug-in hybrid successor that trades naturally aspirated bravado for electrified muscle - and brings a surprising asterisk along with it.
Under the hood sits the same fundamental setup as the Urus SE, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 paired with an electric motor tucked inside the ZF eight-speed gearbox. Lamborghini has cranked the combined output to 801 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, making this the most powerful Urus to ever leave the factory. Yet despite a 144 hp bump over the old non-hybrid Performante, the 0-62 mph time hasn't budged an inch - both cars hit that mark in 3.3 seconds flat.

The culprit is weight. Even after Lamborghini's engineers shaved 70 pounds off the new SUV through extensive carbon fiber body panels, a titanium exhaust, lighter brakes, and trimmed interior trim, the SE Performante still tips the scales at 5,452 pounds. That's 712 pounds heavier than its predecessor, largely thanks to the battery pack that also unlocks a claimed 37 miles of pure-electric range. The upside is a strong power-to-weight figure of 6.8 pounds per horsepower, and the new car does edge out the standard Urus SE by a tenth of a second to 62 mph while beating it to 124 mph by four tenths, topping out at 194 mph versus the old Performante's 190 mph.
Lamborghini didn't stop at the powertrain. A new dual-chamber AURA air suspension replaces the previous hardware, promising a wider gap between plush comfort and track-ready stiffness. The brand claims body roll is cut by 55 percent in aggressive driving while ride vibrations drop 25 percent compared to the old Performante, aided by a track widened 16mm for sharper turn-in and added stability.

Visually, the SE Performante gets a reworked carbon fiber hood with S-duct venting, bigger cooling intakes, a taller rear wing, and the largest diffuser ever fitted to an Urus. Lamborghini says the aerodynamic changes cut drag by 3 percent while boosting downforce by 23 percent versus the SE. Inside, expect more exposed carbon, a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen with fresh graphics, and aviation-styled switchgear that reinforces the brand's "Feel Like a Pilot" ethos. A new Rally drive mode joins Strada, Sport, Corsa, and EV, even if most owners will likely never take it off tarmac.
Lamborghini has yet to confirm US pricing or a firm on-sale date, but the Urus SE Performante is expected to land in dealerships around early 2027 with a sticker hovering near $300,000. For a machine that's heavier, more complex, and no quicker off the line than the car it replaces, the real pitch here isn't outright speed - it's the broader spread of ability, from silent electric commuting to a genuinely quicker top-end run than before.
