Kimera K39 moves the Lancia 037-inspired formula into hypercar territory with a Koenigsegg-derived twin-turbo V8 producing 1,000 hp.

Kimera Automobili has finally revealed the K39, its most extreme Lancia-inspired creation yet. Shown near Lake Como, the new model continues the spirit of the company’s EVO37 and EVO38, but moves far beyond them in performance and technical ambition.

The biggest change is the engine. Previous Kimera models used a highly developed 2.1-liter four-cylinder with both turbocharging and supercharging, staying closer in concept to the original Lancia 037. The K39 takes a very different route with a bespoke twin-turbo V8 supplied by Koenigsegg.

The engine is related to units used by the Swedish hypercar maker, but it has been adapted for Kimera with smaller turbochargers to improve response. Output reaches 1,000 hp at 7,350 rpm and 1,200 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, while the redline sits at 8,250 rpm.

Visually, the K39 still carries clear references to the Lancia 037, but the proportions and details are more modern than those of the EVO37 and EVO38. The road-going version gets a redesigned front end, new headlights and more developed aerodynamic surfaces.

The side profile has changed significantly as well. Kimera has widened the rear track and added large side intakes to feed and cool the new V8. At the back, the K39 looks more like a modern supercar, with a sculpted engine cover, rear diffuser and integrated wing.

Kimera also showed a more aggressive Pikes Peak version. This car receives a much larger front splitter, extended side skirts, special mirrors, a roof scoop, a huge rear wing and an oversized diffuser. The Martini-style livery reinforces the rally connection, while the aero package makes it clear that this version is built for serious competition use.

Production will be very limited. Kimera has not confirmed the exact number of cars planned, but says more than 20 units have already been assigned to buyers. The first 10 customers will also be offered a special Pikes Peak-inspired version with its own aerodynamic package.

Pricing has not been announced, though the K39 is clearly aimed at the same collector audience as modern coachbuilt hypercars rather than conventional restomod buyers.
