Hyundai IONIQ 9 Gets a Darker Flagship Version for the U.S.
Hyundai IONIQ 9 Performance Calligraphy Black Ink adds a darker, more exclusive look to the brand’s flagship three-row electric SUV.
Hyundai is giving its largest electric SUV a more exclusive look with the new IONIQ 9 Performance Calligraphy Black Ink. The special version is based on the range-topping Calligraphy trim and has been introduced for the U.S. market.
Hyundai describes the model as its most luxurious electric crossover so far. The idea is not to change the IONIQ 9’s formula, but to add a darker and more premium visual package for buyers who want the flagship version to stand out.

The exterior receives a full black treatment. The skid-plate trim, badges, window surrounds, glossy roof rails and special 21-inch turbine-style wheels are all finished in black. Buyers can also choose Abyss Black Pearl body paint to complete the monochrome look.
The same theme continues inside. The six-seat cabin uses black H-Tex upholstery, black aluminum trim and an artificial suede headliner. The layout remains focused on comfort, especially for the first two rows.

The dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays: one for the digital instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system. Equipment also includes a 10-inch head-up display, digital rear-view mirror, 14-speaker Bose audio system and wireless smartphone charging.
The first and second rows come with power adjustment, heating and ventilation, while the third row is heated. Other features include a panoramic roof, heated steering wheel and power tailgate.

The Black Ink version uses the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup from the Performance model. Total output is 428 hp and 699 Nm. A 110.3 kWh battery provides up to 501 km of driving range, while 350 kW DC fast charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 24 minutes.
Sales of the Hyundai IONIQ 9 Performance Calligraphy Black Ink will begin this summer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch, but the special version is expected to cost more than the current IONIQ 9 Calligraphy, which starts in the U.S. from $74,990.
