Foxtron Cavira turns the former Luxgen n7 into a rebadged and heavily updated electric crossover with up to 468 hp and 578 km of range.

Taiwan’s Foxtron Vehicle Technologies has introduced the Cavira, its second passenger model after the Bria electric hatchback. The new midsize crossover also marks an important shift for the company, as Foxtron begins taking over electric vehicles previously tied to Luxgen.

Foxtron was created in 2020 as a joint venture between Hon Hai Precision, best known as a major contract manufacturer for Apple and Google devices, and Yulon Motors, the company behind Luxgen. The original plan was to develop EV platforms and components for other carmakers while also launching Foxtron’s own battery-electric lineup.

The Cavira is the first clear result of Luxgen’s restructuring. It is not a completely new vehicle, but a deeply redesigned and rebadged version of the Luxgen n7 electric crossover. Yulon has moved Luxgen’s electric operations under Foxtron, while Luxgen itself will focus on gasoline-powered models.

The Cavira keeps the basic body structure and proportions of the n7 but receives a new front end with a full-width lighting element, redesigned door panels, updated rear lights and new bumpers. It measures 4,695 mm long, 1,895 mm wide and 1,625 mm tall, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase.

Buyers can still choose options such as a contrasting roof and wheels ranging from 18 to 20 inches.

The interior has been significantly revised. Instead of the previous layout, the Cavira now uses separate screens: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment display. It also receives a new steering wheel, a redesigned center tunnel and a row of physical buttons placed below the main screen.

Equipment includes power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, a 12-speaker SEAS audio system, built-in air fragrance, 50-watt wireless charging, a power tailgate, surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, driver monitoring and lane-keeping assist.

The Cavira also offers vehicle-to-load capability for powering external devices. Cargo capacity is listed at 692 liters, expanding to 1,603 liters with the rear seats folded. A front trunk is also included.

Underneath, the crossover uses Foxtron’s MIH modular platform, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear suspension. Two versions will be available at launch.

The base Emerge version is rear-wheel drive, using a single electric motor with 249 hp and an 82.7 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. It weighs 2,165 kg, accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and offers up to 578 km of WLTC range.

The all-wheel-drive Pioneer version adds a second motor, raising total output to 468 hp. With the same battery, it weighs 2,286 kg, reaches 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and offers 538 km of range.

Foxtron has already announced prices for Taiwan. The rear-wheel-drive Cavira Emerge starts at 1,239,000 Taiwanese dollars, or about $39,600. The dual-motor Pioneer starts at 1,389,000 Taiwanese dollars, around $44,400.

That makes it significantly cheaper than the Tesla Model Y in Taiwan, which starts from about 1,899,900 Taiwanese dollars, or roughly $60,700.
