Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America Gets a New Patriotic Look
Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America receives a new red, white and blue livery celebrating American engineering and the car’s Nürburgring-proven performance.
Ford has introduced a new visual treatment for the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, created ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary. The special version keeps the same extreme mechanical package as the standard Mustang GTD, but adds a new livery inspired by American speed records, national colors and the Mustang’s own performance ambitions.
The Spirit of America name references Craig Breedlove, the American land-speed pioneer who became the first person to break the 600 mph barrier. Ford uses that connection not just as a historical tribute, but as a symbol of the same engineering mindset behind the Mustang GTD: building an American car capable of challenging the world’s best sports cars.
That message became stronger after the Mustang GTD set a 6:40.835 lap time at the Nürburgring, placing it among the fastest road-legal performance cars to lap the German circuit. The Spirit of America version highlights that achievement with a more dramatic exterior rather than new hardware.

The body is finished in Performance White and decorated with offset Race Red and Lightning Blue stripes. Instead of using a conventional center stripe, Ford arranged the graphics asymmetrically, creating a modern interpretation of the classic Mustang tri-bar theme.
The livery also draws attention to the car’s exposed carbon-fiber elements, including the front splitter and large rear wing. The Mustang name remains visible on the wing, while Forgeline wheels complete the exterior package.
Inside, the Spirit of America stays focused on performance. The cabin carries over the Mustang GTD’s driver-oriented layout, with available 3D-printed titanium accents and high-performance ergonomics. The Performance Package is standard.

The powertrain is unchanged as well. Under the hood is Ford’s 5.2-liter supercharged V8, producing 815 hp and giving the Mustang GTD a top speed of 202 mph.
Ford is currently accepting applications from North American customers who want the chance to purchase a Mustang GTD Spirit of America. The application window remains open through May 18.
