Bugatti W16 Mistral Fly Bug Revealed as a One-Off Sur Mesure Roadster

Bugatti has presented another highly personalized version of the W16 Mistral, created through its Sur Mesure customization division. The new one-off roadster is called W16 Mistral Fly Bug and stands out with a dramatic blue-and-black design theme selected by its private owner.

The Fly Bug follows a growing series of bespoke Mistral commissions. Earlier this year, Bugatti showed several individually tailored examples with very different visual concepts, and this latest car continues that approach with one of the most unusual liveries yet applied to the open-top W16 hypercar.

Bugatti has not revealed the customer’s name. However, the insect-inspired theme may look familiar to marque enthusiasts. American businessman and collector Hezy Shaked, known as the founder of Tillys, already owns several Bugatti models with similar naming and design ideas, including the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Hellbug, Chiron Hellbee and Divo Lady Bug. The new Fly Bug appears to fit naturally into that collection.

The technical package has not changed. Like every W16 Mistral, the Fly Bug uses Bugatti’s quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

All of the work is focused on design and personalization. The body features a special iridescent blue finish developed specifically for this commission. The color is paired with a flowing gradient effect and a series of black details across the exterior, giving the roadster a much more theatrical appearance than the standard Mistral.

The black elements are not limited to simple trim pieces. Parts of the aerodynamic bodywork and rear section are finished in dark tones, while oval graphic patterns appear across the front and sides. These details create the main Fly Bug visual motif and help distinguish the car from other Sur Mesure Mistral builds.

Bugatti also integrated monochrome Macaron badges into the livery. Instead of placing them only in the usual positions, the designers added them behind the side air intakes, blending the emblems into the overall pattern. The wheels follow the same blue-and-black theme, completing the exterior treatment.

The cabin continues the exterior color scheme. Blue accents appear on the dashboard, steering wheel, center tunnel, armrest, seats and door panels. The interior also uses black trim and layered materials to create a more textured, custom look.

One of the most distinctive cabin details is found on the doors. They are decorated with raised black oval elements made by placing perforated leather over Alcantara. The result echoes the exterior graphics while giving the interior a more sculptural finish.

As in other W16 Mistral models, the gear selector contains Bugatti’s traditional dancing elephant sculpture, a reference to the brand’s historical design heritage.

Bugatti has not announced the price of the W16 Mistral Fly Bug. The standard W16 Mistral already costs more than €5 million, so this unique Sur Mesure example is likely far more expensive. The Mistral is limited to 99 units, and more one-off versions are expected as customer deliveries continue.
