2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition Adds More Adventure Gear to the SV Lineup

Nissan is giving the 2027 Frontier another rugged-looking option with the introduction of the new Sport Edition package. Positioned between the regular SV and the more serious PRO-X and PRO-4X grades, the Sport Edition is aimed at buyers who want off-road-inspired design and added trail confidence without moving all the way to the top trims.

The package is available on SV Crew Cab models with either 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains. Its main upgrade is a set of black 17-inch off-road-style wheels wrapped in 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires, giving the truck a more capable stance and better grip away from pavement.

Nissan also adds an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights and front accent lighting. Visually, the Sport Edition borrows cues from the PRO-X and PRO-4X, including a black lower front fascia, black grille, black mirrors and unique Sport badging on the bed and tailgate.

The cabin gets its own treatment as well. Black upholstery is paired with bright yellow contrast stitching, matching the yellow accents used outside. The result is a more distinctive look for the popular SV grade without changing the Frontier’s basic layout.

The wider 2027 Frontier lineup continues with King Cab and Crew Cab body styles, 5- and 6-foot bed options, and four main trims: S, SV, PRO-X and PRO-4X. Nissan will also keep offering personalization packages such as Dark Armor and PRO-4X R.

The Dark Armor package gives the SV a more subdued appearance with gloss-black exterior badges, grille, mirrors, interior trim, headliner and 17-inch wheels. The PRO-4X R package goes further in an off-road direction with more aggressive Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme tires, special 17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped shifter and titanium-colored grille and skid-plate accents.

All 2027 Frontier models use Nissan’s 3.8-liter V6, producing 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity is rated at up to 7,150 pounds, and Trailer Sway Control is standard on SV and PRO grades.

The PRO-X and PRO-4X remain the more focused off-road versions. They include Bilstein suspension components, black 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires and Lava Red design accents. The PRO-4X also adds an electronic locking rear differential and an available Off-Road Mode for the Intelligent Around View Monitor at low speeds.

Technology updates for 2027 include an upgraded Qi2 wireless charger in the PRO Convenience package, using magnets and an integrated cooling fan for more consistent charging. The Frontier also offers an available 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while an 8-inch screen remains standard.

Safety equipment is broad across the lineup. Standard features include lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, high beam assist and intelligent cruise control.

Nissan has also added a new Alpine Metallic exterior color for 2027. Other available colors include Red Alert, Tactical Green Metallic, Afterburn Orange, Gun Metallic, Boulder Gray Pearl, Super Black, Glacier White and Bluestone Pearl.

The 2027 Nissan Frontier will continue to be built at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi. Pricing will be announced closer to the truck’s arrival at dealerships later this summer.
