Jeep is reviving two fan-favorite Grand Cherokee trims for 2027, with the off-road-focused Trailhawk boasting best-in-class ground clearance.

Jeep is expanding the Grand Cherokee's 2027 lineup by bringing back two trims that longtime fans have been asking for: the rugged Trailhawk and the upscale Overland. While both share a similar face, they're aimed at very different types of buyers—one built for trail duty, the other for those who want off-road capability wrapped in a nicer package.

The Trailhawk is the star of the show for off-roaders. It gets a redesigned front fascia engineered for a sharper approach angle, along with visual cues like a matte black hood decal, red tow hooks, and dark neutral metallic trim that set it apart from the rest of the range. Underneath, it rolls on 18-inch Granite Crystal wheels wrapped in chunky 30.5-inch Goodyear Territory all-terrain rubber, backed by six skid plates for protecting the underbody on rough terrain. Jeep also added its TrailCam system, essentially a set of digital eyes that function like a virtual spotter when navigating tricky obstacles.

Jeep hasn't shown off the Trailhawk's cabin yet, but the automaker confirmed it will feature Global Black Nappa leather seats accented with red stitching, plus the 12.3-inch infotainment screen introduced during the Grand Cherokee's 2026 refresh. Mechanically, the Trailhawk keeps its serious off-road toolkit: a Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case, Selec-Terrain traction control complete with a dedicated Rock mode, an electronic limited-slip differential, and Quadra-Lift air suspension. A Trailer Tow Package comes standard too, allowing the SUV to tow as much as 6,200 pounds.

That air suspension setup is a big part of why the Trailhawk claims best-in-class figures across the board. With it raised to its highest setting, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk delivers 11.4 inches of ground clearance, along with approach, breakover, and departure angles of 36, 24.4, and 30.3 degrees respectively—numbers that put it ahead of rivals in its segment and reinforce Jeep's off-road bona fides.

On the other end of the spectrum sits the Overland, which shares the Trailhawk's new front-end design but trades the aggressive styling for something more refined. Bright metallic tow hooks replace the red ones, while black painted lower body cladding, Silver Silk accents, and a body-color roof give it a cleaner, more premium look. It also steps up to larger 21-inch wheels finished in Granite Crystal.

Inside, the Overland leans into luxury with Nappa leather front seats that are both heated and ventilated, complete with "Overland" script embossed into the backrests. Rear passengers get heated seats as well, and the cabin features a distinctive An-Teak Satin Chrome trim paired with a Liquid Chrome accent tracer for a more upscale feel than the Trailhawk offers.

Despite its focus on comfort, the Overland doesn't skimp on capability. It carries over the same Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case and Quadra-Lift air suspension found in the Trailhawk, while adding hill-descent control and a 360-degree surround-view camera system to make it more livable for everyday driving without losing its off-road credentials entirely. Together, the return of these two trims shows Jeep isn't abandoning its core identity even as the Grand Cherokee continues to evolve.
