Mazda is a Japanese automaker founded in 1920 as Toyo Cork Kogyo, renamed Mazda in 1984. Based in Hiroshima, it’s known for blending affordability, driving fun, and sleek design under its “Kodo: Soul of Motion” philosophy. Mazda targets mainstream buyers with premium aspirations, competing with Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. It produces about 1.2 million vehicles annually, with strong markets in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Mazda’s “Zoom-Zoom” ethos emphasizes driver engagement, often through innovative engineering like Skyactiv technology for efficient engines and chassis.
